S. S. Edmund Fitzgerald, The Pride of the American Flag

Today the S. S. Edmund Fitzgerald is on my mind. The song, Edmund Fitzgerald, was written and performed by Gordon Lightfoot, an international folk singer from Canada. The ship, S. S. Edmund Fitzgerald, inspired the song. Mighty Fitz, was a freighter, sailing The Great Lakes for 17 years, hauling taconite iron ore from the Minnesota Iron Range to Detroit, Michigan.

Each time I hear the song, I can't help but think of the 29 souls lost on Lake Superior, November 10, 1975. This posting is dedicated to these brave souls. Imagine, if you will, the ship's bell ringing once for each name you read below.

New Cables!!!

After a long hiatus from recording and sometimes even playing music, Dusty Rockers is back. To begin with, we are seriously considering at least one jam at a local county park and will be posting details as they become a little more solid.

The first baby step arrived today... new cables!!! They are short but they are a start and no more crackling cables... YEAH!

Damh the Bard

So to lift my spirits I am going to share an artist who is alive and well and makes some awesome music! His songs are written in the Old World Tradition of the Druidic Bard.

Druidic Bards were vested with the honor and responsibility of passing on the Druidic tradition in the form of story and song. Damh the Bard has taken on this tradition in the form of song.

By following this link you can get a taste for the music that Damh the Bard makes. Close your eyes, imagine the fires burning bright while Damh the Bard shares the stories of old.
